Title: Finish line ceramic wet
Post by: Domestique on 15 July, 2012, 03:48:10 pm
Any good?
I notice I am about to run out of Purple Extreme, it seems to be quite difficult to find some apart from Ebay and Amazon.
So been thinking about trying something different. If any has used, is using could you give your opinions please.

It's ok but quickly gets filthy, like most other lubes.

I could send you some to try for free - perhaps at the same time as the Brompton M+ tyres if you'd still like to buy them.  (Sorry it's taken me so long to decide/remember).

The only relatively clean lube I've found is ProLink ProGold.

Slight correction:

What I tried is Finish Line ProRoad Ceramically Reinforced.  No mention of "wet", but I suspect it's the same or similar stuff, really.  And there's nearly a full bottle left.

Thanks for the offers
Tyres - Have now changed the tyres on both our Bromptons. Only ordered the last tyre a week ago after a big feck about by someone on Ebay selling a Marathon but saying it was a Plus.
Lube - Thanks for the offer but most likely give the wet stuff a try.

No problem.  Good luck.

I agree - Finish Line Ceramic was horribly dirty, Proline Progold is very clean and quite tenacious, much better than any teflon/wax stuff I've tried (and I've tried them all!)

Why can't Purple Extreme just knock out some more of their stuff?
That would most likely save me a load of hassle and money.

You could try muc off c3. Ive just started using it, so far it seems pretty clean and is good in the wet. I did 20+ miles in the wet the other day and it held out well, in fact it wasn't just wet weather it was biblical flood weather. I've only done 3 rides on it, all wet weather and the chain isn't black yet!

It also smells like  and looks like runny jam

What about TF2, is that worth a pop?

I've not tried the weldtite tf2 but for a little over £3 it's not going to break the bank and worth a punt. I've used the finish line ceramic and krytech stuff and it went mucky and didn't last too long. The cross country stuff isn't too bad.

The c3 has just been out again in the rain and it's still stuck to the chain  It seems to be pretty good, I can see it being very sticky in the dry though.
