Update:  We have a plan!

To recap:  The Mildenhall Rally is happening as a reduced one-day event this year, without onsite camping.  While some of us have opted to camp nearby and show their support, there was enthusiasm for organising a forum event elsewhere, on the basis that Mildenhall is awkward to get to and has few attractions other than the Rally itself.

On that basis, a return to the Wing Hall campsite near Rutland Water was suggested.

I've made a booking for a non-electric tent pitch on https://winghall.checkfront.co.uk/reserve/ with group name "YACF".  I suggest everyone else who's coming does the same.

Attending:
Kim + barakta
Pedal Castro (Saturday night)
Wowbagger + Mrs Wow + ?grandchildren
Torslanda
Canardly (if he sorts his builder out)
loadsabikes + Mrs Miggins + collection of grandchildren (if no other body parts break)
cycleman + Apollo
Polar Bear + Mme PB
Pedaldog
andrewc
clarion + Butterfly + Nye
nikki
?Wobbly John
Julian + Charlotte + Iris
Luke

Yep. This might possibly involve a grand-daughter. No discussion has taken place yet. If it does, one of two things will have to happen: either, Mrs. Wow takes her on the train and I take all the luggage in the car; or, we buy a Helios triplet and all travel in the car.  :demon:

We could hostel it for a change?

Could we get one for Aug Bank Hol at this short notice? There are lots of camp sites. I doubt we would have a problem, short of a monsoon.

Hostel seems redundant in August.  Nowt wrong with tents - large ones if necessary - shirley?

Butterfly and I were discussing this yesterday... the idea of a return to Wing Hall (site of an excellent forum weekend in 2012 and again in 2013) came up.  We noted that it'll be less cold in August, and that there's a cafe on site.  They might let us have the rally field if we can get a decent group together...

I would like to go to the wing site again. There is some nice cycling around there  :)

I'm hoping the person in charge is the Wing Commander.

I think you will find, m'lud, that that role was bestowed on the inestimable but fragile Loadsabikes when this event was first mooted several years ago. However, I think we have yet to officially adopt the Rutland National Anthem:

Will this be the 'Much Delayed Unofficial YACF 8th Birthday Meet' as well?

OK. If that's what you want I'll say a provisional yes* and make a trip to Costco the day before for chocolate CAEK and carrot CAEK**. Numbers?

It took me sooooooooooo long, to find out and I found out...'

**Unless, of course, there's a Crinkly CAEK in the offing.

I'd like to be involved. Adults only or are kids allowed? I ask purely for info: either answer works.

If I can get the legs working in time for this I'll admit my intent to be there. Did Wing hall a few years ago and it would be a decent place to try and get out of the Funk I've been in for more than a year now!
