Everything else is a bonus.

Airbed has a built in matress. Wassa Thermarest?

A thermarest is a thin (1-2") airbed that's filled with foam. This makes it warmer than an airbed where you get air currents carrying the heat away from the squashed insulation under your sleeping bag. They also largely blow themselves up as the foam expands when the valve is opened to let the air in. These days there are loads of other brands as well as the genuine article.


For a group, some sort of large communal tent or gazebo would be good if the weather isn't so good, unless you'd all just decamp to the local pub.

That's a pity because Thermarest do a chair kit that converts the matress into a suprisingly comfortable chair.

Thermarest packs into cylinder 10 inches long and 5 in diameter, weighing 500g. Chair kit is a few straps IIRC.

You can get some sit on the floor chair like thingies.  They're very good.  Butterfly may come by shortly to explain what on earth I'm on about

It's the reason I specied Thermarest with chair addon. You'll be taking a mat/airbed of somesort so make it a Thermarest because they're simply the best for comfort, ease of  use and packing size. If you've got a Thermarest, you've also got a chair; the clever chairification component has no more weight/volume than, say, a belt.

Th only downside to Thermarest is cost. Oh, and if you're climbing and one starts to blow off the crag, don't stamp on it if wearing crampons.

Comfier than a Thermarest, and also with a chair conversion is a Downmat/Synmat.

They work really well, as it happens, and fold flat without any metal bits.  Your weight holds the thing down so you can lean against the back.

Sainsburys currently sell an alloy Tripod stool for £2.49.  They are very light and fold up small.  They make the ideal seat for sitting around the camp stove

Insects donnae like me and I've got my piezoelelectric sting thing, one click of high voltage current and whatever stops stinging and itching. Corckscrew is on multitool.
