Demented Sports?

I've been thinking for some time that, while football is making at least some attempts address the connection between heading the ball and later dementia, boxing seems to be keeping very quiet.  Then there's this:-

(In case the link is embargoed, it's about a teenage woman boxer killed in Canada)

I’m not into boxing, but my favourite team sport (as a spectator, I don’t do team sports) has been diluted over the years because of safety concerns. Rugby Union still retains some of the spectacle, but even with the close scrutiny of the referee, is probably in danger of further reform. At least the junior game has been tamed down a lot in an attempt to get teenagers to not be quite so violent towards one an other.
For every complex problem in the world, there is a simple and easily understood solution that’s wrong.

And it's risky for supporters, too:-

You don't have to be thick and insensitive to support Newcastle still - but you probably are.

Even St. Shearer welcomed the takeover with, "I know there's the human rights issue BUT......."

And he's even done a bloody programme on heading and dementia.

Come on you Dale!
