IIRC the MSF signal only flags that there's about to be a DST change for the hour before the change, so it's entirely possible for the clock to miss it if the signal's iffy.  Which is has been ever since they moved the transmitter to Cumbria.

Ob GMT, BST and local time:

https://www.bristol247.com/news-and-features/features/bristol-smallest-plaque-connection-clocks-going-back/

That article's got one of those comedy units we've been grumbling about:

Quote
To commemorate the job of this master clock and Langford’s efforts, Bristol’s smallest plaque, no larger than a 30cm ruler, can be found directly underneath the clock, now in a somewhat sorry state outside Costa on College Green.

So ≤30cm, then?

I have 3 such clocks, all out of my reach. They all face southwest.
If I wish to force a reset, I'll need to ask David for help. He's out right now…

Will wait and hope.

No. No, not at all that. A ruler always has blank bits at each end. So it's ≤30cm + a small, unspecified amount. They should really specify whether the rule is plastic, metal or wooden.

The Gorgeous Grandschildren came to stay at the weekend. Whilst being perfect at everything, they don't know about clocks, daylight saving and granddad's need for kip.

Actually I don't care, for they are wonderful, even at audax o'clock.

5pm and it is getting dark already.

Young man, you may have gone to Harrow, and have a B.E. 1.1  and an M.Phil (Engineering for sustainability) 1.1 (Cantab), but your last communication leaves me in doubt as to whether you'd know one end of a spanner from the other.

I checked mine. One end does, and just over 1 metre away, the other end doesn't.

Edit: It's not steel, it's aluminium, made in Sheffield.

We were told in school that the extra bits on wooden rulers were there so that the ends of the scale would remain visible even if the corners got worn down. Steel rules didn't need them (unless used to test a grindstone).  Modernity doesn't care about what we were told in school.

BTW, why do we call a wooden one a ruler and a steel one a rule?

I remember going to a theatre to buy tickets.so that I wouldn't have to pay the retailer's handling fee; but the theatre add the charge even if you buy direct from them.
It's not really an extra fee if you can't avoid it.

It was a perfect storm of pumpkins, poppies and christmas tat in Mr Sainsbury's Emporium Of Toothy Comestibles yesterday.  Like their calendar had really bad timezone issues.

I went to the DIY shop for some araldite earlier. They didn't have any :(

The closest thing comes with two special single use plastic mixing nozzles. So a use twice tube of glue! This seems profligate, at best. What's wrong with a bit of foil and mixing with a matchstick?

Just yesterday, I had need to use a bit of 2-part epoxy to fix something.
I liberated a pack of Dexter Hysol Epoxi-Patch from my former workplace some years back, and it's lasted well and is Very Good.

Just googled it, and it seems the brand has been borged by Loctite, but this looks much like the box I have:

I think you may be unfortunate in your choice of DIY shop.  Araldite (other two part adhesives are available) can still be bought as a two tube blister pack complete with mixing tray & (stupidly small) spatula.  As any fule kno a cocktail stick is the only proper mixer & applicator for Araldite.
