The BBC is a hoodoo: with one exception, I don't think I've managed to see any of the astronomical show-stoppers they "highlight" since they started mentioning them on the news.  I know when the meteor showers occur, I know about blue moons and why (even grew up singing the Marcels hit of the same name) but if the BBC mention it, it's cloudy, whereas here in Grater Sadchester it's usually horizon-to-horizon sunshine, as any fule kno.  I managed Hale Bopp and the recent comet but they were around for ages.

I had a blue moon ride this afternoon, after the weather forecast said that the weather would be clearing up. The rain had stopped but the last 3 or 4 minutes of my ride to Penelope's house caused me to become decidedly moist, so, at her suggestion, I sat in her house without my trousers, doing my best Brian Rix impersonation. As she said, "I don't suppose you've got anything I haven't seen before..."
