Last night my back road home closed
here, heading south. Police cars and lots of blue flashy lights. WPC (Also adorned with blue flashy lights) told me I couldn't go that way due to a fire. Had to do a detour down the A34. Looking right from the A34, I could see the fire over the fields. It was a big one, looked like a major barn fire.
This morning, road was still closed. Went down anyway (I don't mind the extra distance but would prefer not to do it on the A34). I figured the fire would be out, and whatever blockage there was, I would be able to get past easily on the bike. I was right, but there were still two fire engines, and numerous firemen around. They didn't bat an eyelid as I went past. Same again this evening - road closed, two fire engines and firemen wandering around -
24 hours later. Are they waiting in case it flares up again?
On the plus side, I had chance hall lane to myself.
