Eggselent doco on the Voyager on BBC4 just finished.  Full of Carl Sagan and assorted Beards from the JPL  Looked out in vain for my chum Paul, but he's obvious;y not sufficiently qualibobobbed to  be allowed to appear on camera.  Or his beard in insufficiently academic...

I am laughing a lot at the tweets about Huddersfield tonight after Town.

Beeb 4 prog about Cornelia Parker at the moment. She used to live in my flat, and there's still some of her naff and utterly pretentious work up in my loft. I'm watching in an attempt to gauge opinion about the moralities of whether, or how to flog it to some deluded collector.

Sadly not. I'm more of the I don't know much about art, but I know that I don't like C Parker's combination of visual and verbal allusions that trigger cultural metaphors and personal associations, which allow the viewer to witness the transformation of the most ordinary objects into something compelling and extraordinary mobile of lead castings dangling from my roof joists by piano wire persuasion. It must be worth something to somebody though!

Town on BBC2 starting now is about Huddersfield tonight.

This week, Enniskillen (my home town)

I think this was before they knew about the G8 Summit coming - there's been a whole lot of fresh paint and tarmac lately!  ::-)

Only just caught up with it but the documentary about Agnetha Faltskog is worth an hour of anyone's time.  Thirty-five years ago I should rather have thrown myself off a tall building than admit to liking ABBA; today I remember every word of the hits and don't know whether to laugh or cry.  What I do know is that as songwriters Bjorn and Benny are up there with the rude boys; doubly so since they were doing it in a FOREIGN language.

Mind you, I preferred Frida back then  :P

I've recorded it but I haven't watched it yet. I have bought her new album though. It's weird hearing her voice without the ginger one's in harmony with her.

^ I saw that.  I didn't realise that Agnetha released four solo albums and was already very well known in Sweden before joining Abba.

A reminder that the cat program is on tonight.  BBC2 9 pm.

Anni Frid could really sing, and was winning competitions from 1964. She was a shy young mum back then, but she shone in performance.

They are both great singers, but the combination of them singing together is so special. I watched the documentary last night. I thought it was really touching how Agnetha said that when she's feeling down and lacking in confidence, she puts on The Winner Takes It All and reminds herself that she was involved in making  something so brilliant.

(ok, not sure when it's on, we tape it ... )

Luckily I was not put off by the presence of James Corden (who isn't great); it's rather good, and a bit different

Tonight's TV schedule 60 years ago. All of it. (I dug around for this because it's my sister's birthday today. Not that I'm trying to make her feel old or anything. Certainly not.)
