I just went through Didcot. I didn't notice. That's twice today I've failed to notice Didcot. I did notice Chippenham though.

Whereas I did notice Didcot a couple of weeks ago as I rode toward Wantage over the Downs, precisely because half its Wonder of the World is still there.

As for Cholsey, I've not been able to find out whether it's "kolsey" or "tcholsey" IYSWIM.

The other day I cycled from Abingdon and actually had occasion to see Didcot in a good light...

1957? 27 Lynmouth Road, newly built. Must have been hot - most of the neighbours' galvanised Crittal windows are open? Asbestos drainpipe. Unable to afford a lawnmower.

Perhaps I was the first person to figure out whether black socks and white shoes were a goer on a bike?

It's 'Cholsey'.

The station announcer at Didcot pronounces it Cholsey.

I work on the edge of Didcot, so quite a few of my colleagues live there. I've still not seen any of i beyond the train station though! :)

It as orange yesterday, which was a nice change.

Today, not so much.

The house I was born in had windows just like that.

Insulating properties on a cold winter morning? I swear they actively moved heat out of the house. I remember pretty patterns in the ice on the inside.

A colleague of mine tried to go to Didcot and failed. He couldn't figure out how to the get off the train (because he's American and sensibly didn't anticipate you had to lean outside to find the handle). Then he tried to get a train back from Paddington but it didn't stop at Didcot. So he went to Swindon instead.

I can't imagine he'll be back any time soon.

I was in Didcot earlier. It was sunny.

Not again   Was this because of rogerzilla's new shop, or has another building collapsed?

Meanwhile, Radio4's latest   Marcus Brigstocke vehicle (co-starring   Kerry Godliman) is a lot better than the premise*. But I didn't realise until this week that it's set in Didcot. The final (rather harrowing) episode features a fapping incident at the library  :o

Is there anything fapworthy in Didcot library?  Maybe there's an entire Dewey decimal allocation for literary grumble, eschewed by libraries elsewhere.

There MUST be trainspotting books in Didcot Library.

Such a shame I failed to donate my very neatly handwritten with always sharp HB (sharpener and rubber always in school satchel) copious logs (mostly DMU numbers as steam was just about over and my dad was no longer a 'fireman' on the footlplate) to the library, before I left/fled Didcot/home in 1971?

Much like (but slightly different) this:

Traveled daily on these from Didcot to Art Skool in Maidenhead

Ref. C4 news.Apparently,Didcot is a microencapsultion of Middle England ,so it was a natural destination for reporters seeking a vox-pop on the Brexit deal or no deal.

Just watching a rerun of a Time Team and they're getting all excited about Roman stuff in a trench nr Didcot, carbon dating stuff to last Tuesday and so on.

The looming question which no one is answering is why the Romans or anyone else would build a villa on a hillside with a view of the bloody power station . . .
