Giro Republic Shoes... Any good
« on: March 07, 2017, 08:28:44 am »
I need a new pair of shoes for touring and audax riding, the Giro Republic look good and the reflective ones would, I think, work well at night.  Has anyone got a pair and what do they think, and from reading it looks like I should get one size up from shoe size.  I tend to do longish touring in Europe and audax, including LEL this year. Any advice would be great. Thanks

I have the leather ones, Republic LX.  I usually take size 42, in Sidi I take 43, to be sure I went to Evans and tried on and bought size 43 in Republic.  These are my summer touring shoes so are used with thin socks.  Last year they were excellent for a 1500 mile tour in temperatures ranging from 15 to 40C.

I have a pair. I take an 11 but they feel like a 12. I tried a 10 but that was too tight. Weird sizing.  The replaceable pads wear down quickly and the screw's holding them come loose. They also have a habit of creaking. Saying all that they are the most comfortable shoes I have worn.

They are Italian sizes, which are smaller than the UK sizes.
