My ghetto fixed wheeler was stolen at the weekend. Locked up (but evidently not with a beefy enough lock) at my local station, an area with a very moderate crime rate.
I'm just trying to work out what to tell the insurers.
The frame was a vintage Reynolds 531, which I'd had stripped & powder coated matt black to disguise its value. What I'm wanting is to be able to do is point insurer to a modern equivalent as a guide to the replacement value, but I can't find any without delving into the realms of bespoke/custom build frames. Naturally I'm expecting they'll reduce from the new value and there is an excess, but I'm hoping if I pitch it right the final payout might be enough to pay for another ebay frame and a few bits to dress it with.
Any suggestions?
