That's a shame.

Bodge it together with cable ties and ride it along the lyke wake walk route before giving it a sea burial at Ravenscar?

That's an idea. I'd rather have a way of getting back, mind. Mebbes I'll strap the frame to the back of a replacement and find a local steel furnace.

Bugger, as Karla didn't quite say. It does sound like it deserves a Vikingesque funeral - I do reckon either smelting or something maritime would fit the bill, but the devil is always in the detail.

(I did like TG's input on your other thread, too. Valuable perspective, I reckon.)

Nothing is immortal, except for eternity itself. And even that might have to end at some time.

Is it really only six years ago that you rode to India? Or do I mean as long as six years ago? Well, no monkeys in Darlo but there must be some sharks in the sea to eat it, surely?

Sorry to see it go, but what a life you’ve given it Deano. Love the video of the welder - didn’t even drop the wheel out!

As Mike says, it's had a good life. Thousands of them will have gone back to the smelter decades ago.

Well, if not, then the weld has finally given out .

Very emotional, Dean.  Glad to feature in the Whorlton picture of the two racing greens!

What memories!

Wow. Rest in peace old Peugeot. That really is the end of an era.  God, that festival was fun wasn’t it.   :)

Sorry to hear about the demise of your bike Deano, but think of the great memories you have accumulated whilst riding it.

That brazer, Vishwal, knew how to wield a torch. That's a pretty tough break to repair, I reckon, and he did it with cramped access. Artist with a blowtorch, and he wouldn't even accept a tip! What a guy.

It really was. I've never been given so much space on a bike as when I was carrying beer. I reckon the thinking goes: There's any number of annoying cyclists in the world, but only a finite amount of beer. Protect the booze!

Imagine if I'd been carrying the cheese back from Shaftesbury as well.

Weirdly, I mentioned it at work, and they're all really offended that I plan to scrap it. I half-expected a couple of replies on here encouraging me to fix it, mind.

Maybe I could hacksaw the frame tubes apart and hang them up as tubular bells or something, but it's more likely to end up in the scrap metal bin down the tip. I like the idea of a sea burial, but that's probably out cos it's just littering.

1) Fix it up
2) Ride to New Zealand (and actually get there this time)
3) Throw it in Mt Doom

Oh - I'd forgotten the cheese!

That was good cheese....

I've been reminiscing about us riding our bikes onto the festival field, bypassing ALL THE CARS and skipping the queues for the trolleys, and drinking tetrapak wine sitting on the grass at silly o'clock.  There was some great music that weekend.

And when Deano came back and I rode with him out of Darlo to the pub, it was awesome.  Happy days.

RIP
