I reckon Catherine Faulks, RBKC councillor, deserves a nomination for her performance on the Home Service this morning. Asked about, inter alia, the report that some Grenfell Tower tenants have had rent payments taken out of their accounts, she said it was wrong to focus on such small matters.

(As she spoke, the realisation of how bad that sounded dawned, and she backtracked, saying that of course for the people concerned, this wasn't a small matter. I'm not convinced that helps very much.)

Doubt he'll do more than 6.

Trying to incite murder should carry a far far greater tariff imo.

Australia's Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull who is banging on anti-encryption laws, as if they wouldn't leave everyone's bank transactions vulnerable and as if terrorists planning murder would comply to some rules about no using the wrong sort of easily available program.

He said:- "The laws of mathematics are very commendable, but the only law that applies in Australia is the law of Australia."

Bewildering.  If you worked in San Francisco, why would you choose to live in LA?

Not on quite the same scale, but this reminds me of a character I worked with about 10 years ago.  For tax purposes he was based in New York but in reality he spent the whole week in London. He would fly in overnight Sunday, getting into the office for the regular 08.00 Monday morning meeting that he chaired and fly back to NY late on a Friday evening so he could spend the weekend with his family in Connecticut.  Of course, being a master of the universe, he would spend most of the weekend on the phone and when  not on the phone, on his Blackberry.  He was probably making about £10m a year, but what a miserable way to "live".

Can't find anything anywhere else saying that. Or a mention on the Metro wibble either. So with luck he's still banged up.

It must have been all of a few hours since his last nomination, but Piers "Moron" Morgan (Who is a Colossal Bell End) needs calling out. Again.

This time, he has been tennisplaining to a 49-time Grand Slam champion. No, seriously...
