Summer hol in France with kids

(1/2) > >>

Paul:
We're hoping to go to France next year - we'll probably drive. The boys will be 8 & 10. They say they aren't bothered for a beach, but I'd like us to be able to get to one anyway. Bikes are a possibility if there's good and child-friendly cycling to be had. Camping is unlikely. Has anyone had experience of something that ticks all these boxes?

Even  Eurocamp mobile home? Ones with kids clubs can work very well, and make things as relaxing as can be.

Tigerrr:
Another vote for Eurocamp. Best holidays we had when the kids were that age.
Head for the Vendee - it is beaches but not as you know them, and it is completely flat which is great for the cycling.  single day drive possible with an overnight ferry adventure. Anywhere round St Gilles Croix  is great. The eurocamp tents are all set up, and it is great fun. Kids just get to muck about outdoors a load and generally make loads of friends.
Brittany also OK but more crowded.

Mobile homes are brilliant at that age.  However the Vendee was the only place we left early as we just could not stand the union jack swim short brigade.

I would consider the Loire Valley.  We had some lovely holidays there with our boys. The history is brilliant.  Sound and light shows are magical and you have the loire river to play on.  Lots of kayaking, etc.  Not actually a beach but the mix of food, wine, cycling, water sports and big castles should be enough for any 10 year old! (wine is for the adults of course)

I've had many happy camping tours with Breton Bikes,  they also offer fixed site camping and a couple of cottages.   Kate & Geoff are lovely people.
