I can see clearly (in Didcot) now the rain has gone. It's lovely and sunny.

(Sadly I've just read the first ridiculous school helmet rule story in the local rag. Might become a post elsewhere .....)

Rainbows!  Even making Didcot quite picturesque earlier.

Quelle domage, I missed les couleurs de Didcot.

When I passed Didcot earlier, it was grey. Grey about the M&S Food Temple on the left and Grey about the building of the Glorious Tank Temple on the right.
It is simpler than it looks.

It’s sunny!

Sorry, that’s the best I can say about it.

I was pleased to note in my Google Timeline email today that despite having travelled extensively about the world last month, it chose

Didcot, Stevenage, and South Croydon

to highlight. Yes, Didcot first. Living the high life, I am.

To frequenters of Didcot Parkway, if driving, where on earth does one do a <1min drop-off of a passenger at the station  ???  The main entrance is no entry to cars, & is surrounded by carparks... and probably festooned with ANPR.

Maybe in one of the carparks? plenty of space <1min walk from the entrance.

Just to the West of the station is the quick drop off point so just before the main station entrance. It’s also shared with taxis.

Additionally the waste ground car parks opposite the station either side of the pub could be used and neither one appears to have any ANPR or even technology more advanced than an abandoned supermarket trolley.

I'm sitting outside the Pumpkin in Didcot Station with a lukewarm coffee. I think this perfectly encapsulates ennui.

I had reason to park at Didcot the other week.

Brand new, 'state of the art'*, multistory car park they said.

Enter, I did.

'PAY & DISPLAY - CASH ONLY' the sign said.

DESPAIR, i did.

*that was my own foolish assumption, not advertised.

*Well, as good as. No trains running as I discovered as I tried to catch the pre-dawn express :(

Yes, I was looking forward to seeing the bright features of Didcot as I passed through today. Will have to try later.

The "bright features" Didcot? Think you'll have to try a lot later for that!

Yes, it’s a fairyland of glittering lights, changing all the time: green... amber... red... red and amber... and back to green.

Must be quiet today.  No trains to Paddington.  The locals are emerging from their caves, blinking in the sunlight.

Just been notified that it's 3 days to go until the Didcot Food Festival. Highlights include an "identify the vegetables" competition....

At least something useful has come out of the Daily Mail.
