Arenberg trench
« on: 10 October, 2019, 08:29:27 pm »

Am I right in thinking the arenberg forest pave sector has a smooth tarmac path along side it for people with enough sanity to avoid pave? I find photos of it with tarmac down the side, but can't tell if that is along its whole length?

Thanks

Yes there is. This was a drone photo from my sportive:

In the sportive they rope it off from cyclists, I don't know how it is normally.

Screw your courage to the sticking place and give it the beans! It really isn't that bad!!!

I'm planning a route for more than just me and I don't want to send people over Pave without providing an alternative. I've done Paris Roubaix, never again!

I can't obviously guarantee that the tarmac will be open access to bikes all year round - as you can see it's not gapingly wide - but it did extend all the way down the trench, as far as I could see.
