Data from my weather station for October. It's the wettest month so far this year, just exceeding April by a millimetre or two. My own figures using a ground-level manual rain gauge invariably exceed the Davis weather station's results. I measure 95.9mm. Less than 15 miles inland, my brother measured 128.8mm.

On the way in, I had to take the sleeves off my jacket it was that warm.  Much cooler on the way home, despite the forecast.  Managed to avoid the rain in both directions

Back garden is already a shallow lake, and we've only just started.  This house won't flood, since the surface water has lots of escape routes, but others in the area can, if the river gets another few inches higher.  One road has already been flooded three times this autumn, and will be again today.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

Cold, wet & miserable in Liverpool.  Gusts of wind but nothing drastic.   I need to get some stuff from the shops so I think it's time to dig out the waterproof trousers!

Absolutely 'Full Welsh' all night, then most of this morning here in Llandysmal.
The river seems to be coping,  just.
More on the way.  :(
Admission.  I'm actually not that fussed about cake.

Well it was a bit wet and windy yesterday, but not the apocalypse. Today has been fine, with blue skies, up until half an hour ago. Then 15 minutes ago the heavens opened with a 10 minute pounding deluge. Why can’t it just, you know rain normally  ::-)

ETA: On the other hand it did yield this display, the brightest I think I've ever seen

And thus far they’ve persisted for over 10 minutes, which is also pretty rare.

If I buy a new home I'll be checking flood risk carefully.   It's put me off making an offer on this place*.....too close to the river.

It seems awfully cheap for such a large pile, is that why?
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

That's £50k less than my 2 bed garden flat in Londres Sud has been valued at.
ETA - I recon that's a mispront and it is 13 bedrooms and not 3.

“Holme Eden Hall, built in 1833 is a significant Grade II listed building being one of only a handful of Calendar Houses in the country so called by having 365 windows, 52 chimney’s, 12 corridors, 7 entrances and 4 corridors, one for each season of the year. Built by the then prominent businessman Peter Dixon, Holme Eden Hall was constructed as his family seat, and was designed by the renowned architect John Dobson. The house has a colourful history but in 2003 it changed hands again and was entirely refurbished into this rare and prestigious development of 12 luxury apartments.”

Bizarrely, the plan suggest that to enter the property you go into a porch and through a bedroom...

So sunny here in Surreyshire that I might brave wearing suede shoes.

  • Old blerk sometimes onabike.
'Tis sunny here in Suffolk, but cold enough that working on my Executive Members' Mancave roof has left me with very chilly fingers after a couple of hours. The car says it's 9C, but my garden thermometer says it hasn't reached above 6C in the shade.

Got my running kit out last night for parkrun this morning.
After breakfast I put the the shirt on, spotted the temperature report on my watch, took the shirt off, found a long sleeved one and some gloves instead.

It's really quite nice now, but 'twas a bit chilly at 8.30.
