Well the scared of dogs one is 3 1/2 and has come all the way from Canada. Tilly would be fine with him bar some licking but the toys spread all over the floor would be too much of a temptation. She needs a little practice in kennels anyway in case we go on holiday, though at the moment we are looking at dog friendly holidays in the UK or Northern France.

Day two, Blu has been out for his evening constitutional and is now fast asleep in his (open) crate. So far today he has been crated while I went to work for the first time (just half a day to start), been into town for lunch in a cafe where he tried to go and chat to every lady in the cafe, and spent a lot of the evening flomped all over me on the sofa.

I am absolutely smitten. I really can't believe how quickly he's settled in and how completely chilled out he is. As a first time dog owner I feel incredibly lucky, I couldn't ask for more.

Annoying me by sitting in front of screen and washing her face. Shoo.

Big scrap outside earlier. Fortunately wasn't ours, it was GGMFC (giant grey monkey-faced cat) vs. UFC (ultimate fighting cat). GGMFC limped off which what looked like a nasty paw injury. Someone will be getting a vet's bill. UFC is badass, the yap-yap-yap that wakes me up every morning is all his fault, he stalks and chases the local dogs. Fortunately Bad Cat is a bit soppy and doesn't fight too hard, she rolls over and submits quite quickly. I worry more about Little Monster cat because she's little (about 3 kg) and has no teeth but doesn't seem to realise it (though she has razor claws). She wouldn't do well against UFC. That said, she generally just growls at other cats and decides taking a nap is easier.

Megan the Border Terrier's stomach appears to be still jet lagged from the change to summer time. She is currently doing her nut because I seem to have forgotten to feed her, and don't seem to be preparing to do so any time soon.

But the clocks have gone forward so she should be getting fed earlier, 12:00 BST = 11:00 GMT.

however my experience of cats is that they are permanently hungry and should you walk into the kitchen then they think you should be feeding them rather than getting a cuppa.

But apparently lolcatz and related phenomena are leading to an unprecedented number of cats ending up in Battersea. People are disappointed when their moggie won't perform amusingly for the camera, after they've gone to all the trouble of setting up a dedicated YouTube channel, Facebook page, PayPal account and Conservative Party membership for the ungrateful little furry gits. It was on the TV news last night, so must be Trufax.

Drying off after she got the hose after our walk. The little cheeky monkey jumped into the canal today. Never had an interest what so ever in the canal, rivers and lakes yes. But today she jumped in, right where the most dirt had collected. So after a wee swim, I pulled her out. After that she was right up on er toes, jumping around, pulling more, selective hearing engaged, zigzagging about.
