GN: University of Sheffield sent my undergraduate transcript through in under a week.

BN: University of Sheffield have cocked my transcript up. It contains both my first years including my inglorious failure as a chemistry student but doesn't contain my final year and has my total credits wrong.

I have emailed them very politely and nicely to ask them to send me a corrected one and carefully specified what I believe it should cover and contain.

Still got at least 10 days before one of my referees (my boss) is available and suspect the other won't check her email before then anyway. Need to decide what I do if my old personal tutor doesn't reply to my reference request as my dissertation supervisor is half retired and was never known for his email organisational fu.  Don't know if I can get away with a non academic reference or what I'm supposed to do if I can't extract references from academics.

Do you need a reference that does much more than confirm your transcript? If so maybe get the someone to chase the partly retired supervisor / write a letter? If not, current head of department would be a reasonable bet. They might then lean on delegate to the tutor / supervisor!

Otherwise, I'm sure yacf would wiki you something that says you're a jolly good egg.  :)

GN: I decided to order myself a Koala (the saddle pack, not a dozy bear).

BN: Alpkit are all out of stock.

GN: This has saved me £65 and means I don't need one really.

GN:  The hot cross bun shop has lots of mllePB's favourite hot cross buns.

BN:   I am doing the shopping so have to haul them home.

GN:  I also got the most fabulous sourdough in Warwickshire.

Bah: the bus drove right past the stop at which Lt. Col. Larrington and I were waiting.  For it.

Hurrah: It turned out tha using the town centre car park for an hour is half the price of the bus fare.

GN: Lovely uni transcript people replied to my email and are resending transcript. They were apologetic, I was very nice to them cos cockups happen and their dept was very helpful when I was a student (so I said so). Hope they get to go to Easter break with one nice email for the day.

GN: I am a fuck of a lot less homicidal than I was on Tuesday. Dealt with a nice academic who saw 'access' for a blind student as an opportunity to improve overall processes department wide such as consistency of module stuff in VLE and reading guidance...  Which could be interesting. AND has got me a link to where we can get one of the major texts for subject of concern in Braille.

GN: My personal tutor replied with a lovely reference. She does remember me (well it seems), updated me on some other tutors and has asked me if I'd write some thing for the alumni newsletter. Given I'd like to see more representation of people who didn't just walk out of uni into their dream job I'm delighted to... Drafting it already :)

Something's wrong there, Barakta. You're lacking any BN! (And good to hear that lack  :))

BN: The window for my courier delivery is 7am to 7pm.

GN: That's been narrowed down to 7am to 11am.

GN: They've just been!

BN: It's drizzling heavily.

GN: $Megacorp annual cycle scheme is open! Let's go online and get vouchers for the n+1 wot might be a titanium...

BN: They have reduced the max value from £3,500 to £1,000

GN: We have a system to ask questions and get answers

BN: The reason why is that after how ever many (6? more?) years of offering >£1,000 $Megacorp has decided not to get a credit license.

GN/BN: Oops the deadline has passed and I appear to have £1,000 in vouchers to spend

BN: There is no hole in the fleet that I can think of usefully plugging with £1,000 of bike :(

BN/GN: Apparently I can cancel

It's a sad fact that any new bike has to come through border control, and the way to do that is to convince myself first.

I have a steel MTB that I never use these days, just don't offroad (intentionally), can't justify changing. OK, it is also completely in pieces.
I have a hybrid currently in Edinburgh not being used
I have a carbon bike that I love to ride it as a Sunday best, can't see how I could justify changing it, and if I did I would have to spend more than £1,000
I have a folder that I use and love, no point changing that or getting another
I have a commuter that I would like to change but nobody makes the bike I want.
I have a fast commuter (steel, drop bars, Alfine) that I don't use that much these days as I don't do the silly commute I used to, but I fancy upgrading to a more versatile tourer, probably titanium with Alfine Di2. That was what I was going to do with the scheme which will need more than £1,000

So, if you think I'm missing something suggest away, I haven't yet thrown the £1,000 back.....

n - m + 1 = new n and happy Ham.

Sell the MTB and the hybrid as they are no longer used. Sell the fast commuter and put the money on top of the C2W scheme to get yourself the tourer you want.

In a similar vein:

GN: Email from Debbie at Dave Yates. My refurbed frame is all done.

BN: Haven't actually got round to ordering any bits for it. (where can I get stainless steel track nuts?)

BN: Poorly feet and waiting for the man came= a wasted day off when it's been lovely outside.

GN: Drove to the shops and got my painkillers

BN: The walk between car and pharmacy hurt. A lot.
