I think I've had Aventinus befor ebut I'm not sure. I've definitely had Schneider Weisse from the same brewery. Good stuff.

I had a bottle of this stuff a few nights ago:
Paradox - Award winning Scottish whisky cask beer | BrewDog

It's an astonishing beer. Quite unlike anything I've tasted before - I've tasted other beers that have been matured in whisky casks, but not an imperial stout. This was a Speyside one, but I'd really love to try the Islay version...

Their Punk IPA is also rather special - viciously hoppy, more like an American "double IPA" than a traditional British IPA.

This is good information. I'm often shy of beers with, er, non-traditional labelling. There's so much choice in our wonderful local beer shop that I rarely wonder what I might be missing.

Tried that Punk IPA stuff and was underwhelmed.  I like Brains SA Gold - now that's hoppy.  And Fullers Honeydew, either on draught or in bottle is a pleasant pint.  As is St Austell Tribute.

Ooh, shame! Now, I'll admit that it's no Sierra Nevada Pale Ale but I like it a lot - it's like grapefruit-flavoured lager!

Honeydew is too sweet for my taste, but I've only had it from a bottle. They had St Austell Tribute as a guest ale in my local recently and I enjoyed it very much indeed. I might have a word with the landlord and see if he'll get some of the Brains in if it's as good as all that.

They had the Islay Paradox in our Sainsbury's just this very day. It wisnae cheap though.

If you can get it, the Walsall-brewed Highgate Old Ember is worth a try. 6.5% though, so not a session beer.
