Even after 10 years of these shenanigans I'm still perplexed why we rarely go to a Dunmow pub.  Do we just like making Tomsk suffer  ???

Stebbing, High Roding - there's two in recent weeks that Tomsk could have walked to even without recharging.

What mystifies me is why we so rarely go offshore  ;)

But none of the establishments mentioned are actual pubs in Dunmow.

We haven't been offshore recently either or, indeed, to Bishops Stortford or Cambridge.

Such are the joys of living on the outer rims of Mid-Essex.

I am happy to go to any of the above - provided it is in midsummer not November.

Do I need to re-implement the forward planning?  It at least attempted to bounce around the points of the compass on a alternating basis and I am a little tired of not knowing where we are going and when...  I'm still suffering from CBA and all this faffing around isn't helping that...  (Wednesday's seems to be the only thing I am committing myself to at teh moment)

It really would be helpful to those who are working and need to think about the logistics of travelling back from the Big Smoke tomorrow evening - and places further afield - to know by Tues what we are doing. Compasses was the plan but if that's no longer the case, can we please know and have an alternative before tomorrow?

The Boar's Head in Dunmow has been mooted before. A proper 'heritage' pub - they still have outside toilets!

Beer garden at the back for bike parking. Could go for a takeaway afterwards ... 17 miles back to Witham though.

If Brexit has taught me anything, it’s that democracy is finished. I’m glad to see that MEMWNS is at the sharp end, ushering in a brave new era of anarchy...

I’ve just had to Google Comus and he’s my new hero...

“In Greek mythology, Comus (Ancient Greek: Κῶμος) is the god of festivity, revels and nocturnal dalliances. He is a son and a cup-bearer of the god Dionysus. Comus represents anarchy and chaos. His mythology occurs in the later times of antiquity. During his festivals in Ancient Greece, men and women exchanged clothes. He was depicted as a young man on the point of unconsciousness from drink. He had a wreath of flowers on his head and carried a torch that was in the process of being dropped. Unlike the purely carnal Pan or purely intoxicated Dionysos, Comus was a god of excess.”

If we are doing forward planning, can we stay fairly central until the spring.

The last 2 winters I've used pubs that have been at the most 30km from the MEMWNS CoG, last year the max was 34k from Spa (The Viper).  I'll work through the list tomorrow and weed out the closed ones and add any new ones (Notley and Dunmow)

MEMWNS Forward Planning Calendar updated until beginning of March using the winter tuned pseudo random compass based generator... Shorter Spa RBT distances as the calendar moves in to the potentially worse weather. There's a lack of NE quadrant winter suitable pubs so none in the list.

Very helpful, thanks jiberjaber.

I'm not out this evening due to feeling a bit under the weather and needing to bank some sleep ahead of an overnighter on Friday, assuming I'm up for it.

I'll make a special effort next week though, as it's Tom's back yard.
