The Time Travellers Wife - despite knowing what would happen, I still ended up crying

The Kite Runner and A Thousand Splendid Suns - neither are amazingly well written but both tell extremely powerful stories

Probably some other stuff that I've forgotten about.

On both counts!

There's a line in there - it's only to adults that little girls are small and sweet. To each other they're lifesize. (I paraphrase) - that has really stuck with me.

I can't really remember. They were on an epic journey and one of the good guys just got killed. I guess that could be anywhere in the book...

I think you should just read it. It's full of epic journeys. There's a good seagull as well.

There is a collection of bleak short stories by Harlan Ellison called "Deathbird and Other Stories"
In the title story, he describes having to put his own dog down, and describes the animal looking at him as it goes into the back room with the vet. The dog's expression says to him "Please don't leave me to die with strangers"

A book that made me cry laughing was Tony Hawks Around Ireland with a Fridge

The last read that made me cry was 'Executive Orders' by Tom Clancy. It was the part of the book where the FBI Inspector is doing a walk through of the scene of the attempt abduction of the Presidents littleun where several Secret Service agents died and he is looking at the scen from the POV of one of the Agents. Probably my background and working values. I have read the book a number of times and this bit (and others) never fail.

Thereagain, I am a soft sod. Lots of books and films have me leaking like a sieve. I even cried watching the last 10 minutes of a documentary about a sick baby. Baby died and they showed the funeral. I was in floods even though I missed most of the prog. I will be in tears at my own funeral.

You aren't alone Fuzzy - Clancy has brought a tear to my eye on more than one occasion.
