Getting a Ricoh Sp211 laser printer to work with Ubuntu 14.04LTS

Any ideas how I can get it to work? Using the Printers settings I can get it to use the generic settings, but it then doesn't want to print, or it generates a test print page that never gets printed.
Said printer works fine with Windoze.

What do you have it setup as network, usb or what ?
Also why 14.04 LTS that's six years out of date. 18.04 LTS might be better and 20.04 LTS is out any day now.

I'm stuck with 14.04, as detailed in an earlier thread.

It's accessed via USB.

Looks like there isn't a specific driver for it but that the SP 221 one works.

Get the SP 220 one for 14.04 here:

Stupidly its an exe but done worry just extract it and you will get a deb file.

Try installing that with:

sudo apt-get install ./"package.deb"

Then select the SP 220 in CUPS and see if it works.
