Cycling Revolution

Has anyone been, or is planning to go to, the Revolution series of races at the Manchester Velodrome?

Looks like a pretty exciting gig to me - a chance to see big names and promising new faces on a world class indoor track.

I'm going to the next one on the 21st of Feb.

I went to one a couple of years ago - good entertainment.

The 2009 National Men's Madison Championship is confirmed for this weekends bash now too.

Can anyone recommend me some good boozers in Manchester city centre? I think I'll fancy a swift half pint after the evenings main events. ;)

Revolution is a superb night out. Once it starts, there's hardly a moment without cyclists on the track.

Any idea when they'll announce the next series dates? I've been promised a trip and we missed the one this weekend.

Keep checking their website for announcements I guess. If I can get any info. on future events when I'm there this Saturday I'll report it here. I'll try and get some good photos too...

Been to several, quite enjoy them. Do you think the results are pre-arranged ? I do.

rdaviesb - those are very good. Our trip is next month. Any tips? (I'll be taking my DSLR). What is the available light like?

Wifee is the photographer - all these are manual focus, most without flash. Light is good, and the best bet is to get yourself on either of the bankings. I prefer the South curve as you get a really good view of the sprinters winding the gear up, but you can't see the finish line from there.

Some results might have less of an element of luck than others, which is also why I really enjoy seeing the juniors ride. No scripting there!

Still a good evening out though, none of the boring heats and gaps in the program like in the Worlds

Dang! I'd forgot about these. The last one this season is in a few weeks time, and has a corker of a line-up - REVOLUTION 28 - but is now sold out. :'(

Ho hum. Should have paid more attention...

If it's any consolation we made exactly the same mistake. We went in December and there were loads of empty seats so we didn't rush to book. About two weeks ago I mentioned it in passing to friends and said I would book the tickets.  :(

Its a great night out in my opinion so we'll see you there next year TOKAMAK.
