The dog's been throwing up all day.

Delightful.

I wonder whether it's associated with the fact that mice have been dancing a hornpipe in his food bowl.

Can dogs catch gutrot from mice?

Not unless the food's been down long enough for any contamination to take hold and grow, I wouldn't think.

We've not been leaving any food in his bowl. If he doesn't eat it straight away it goes into a mouse-proof box and comes out again later. The mice, however, have learned that his bowl is a food source and I occasionally hear a metallic "ting!" as they jump in and out of his bowl.

It's just been sterilised and will be kept upside down when not in use.

Mice wee everywhere. My dogs once got exceedingly ill when mice started eating their dog biscuits. I didn't even realise we had mice until I noticed their multi-coloured droppings.

Have any neighbours put down rodent poison? Doggy may have found a tasty smackeral of something in the form of a dedd mousie (or rat) and gulped it down. This used to happen with our landlord's dog all the time - though the landlord was adamant that the poison wasn't working because he never saw a dead rat.

The dogs could just have been eating the next-door neighbours kids toys.
It is simpler than it looks.

We have only one set of neighbours nearby and I don't know whether they've put poison down. Knowing our dog, I'd be quite surprised if he'd eat anything dead he'd found: on walks, we've come across the occasional corpse and he's either ignored it or given it a cursory sniff and moved on. He's not very well motivated by food. He doesn't spend much time in the garden either: just two or three charges out each day to woof at the pigeons and then usually comes straight back in.

Mice wee everywhere.

They have no bladder. Yeuch. Mousie wee-wee everywhere they walk.

And if anyone's put poison down I hope it's well hidden. My friends' dog ate rat poison and it was not a happy ending :(
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.
