I just bought a secondhand Schlumpf Mountain Drive elsewhere for £200.

I now have to decide to which bike to fit it, though the Pompino is favourite.

I spilled some Churchwardens'* cider onto my laptop last night, but it seems to be working OK now, albeit with a sticky keyboard.

Yesterday, coming back to Luton station after being a tourist in London town with the children, I noticed a woman struggling up the stairs with a massive suitcase, who must have been coming back from the airport.  So I volunteered to carry it, which made her day.   :smug:

It was heavy though - at least 25kg.  I wonder what she'd smuggled back...........

The volunteers roster for September is out.  I'm pulling levers on 4th, 6th, 7th and 9th.  The 4th is a Steam Gala, with 16 trains rather than the usual 4 or 5.  (But I'm only the assistant that day.)

Ms Manotea the Younger missed her A level grades but (subject to her first choice realising the error of their ways and going down on bended knee to plead their case) has a place at Hull through Clearing to study Geography. She has previously expressed an interest in Hydrography and one things for sure, there is a lot water around Hull.

So that counts as a result!

Just received with a cheque made out for my prize money for winning my first open 25 TT  a couple of weeks ago  :)
(Albeit I kind of crossed the line second, being the stoker on the winning tandem).

Not sure what to splurge the tenner on though!

I got a pay rise, backdated to July.

Not a massive amount, but better than a kick in the teeth.

My phone and broadband have been reconnected after >48hour down.
My parents moved house yesterday; their phone and broadband were connected by late afternoon and they have been able to keep their phone number.

I'm still pretty miserable, believe me ... I'm not sure which is more depressing: my current work environment or the sheer amount of dross I'm having to filter through to find something else remotely appropriate.

My book has been published.   :D
I've not got a paper copy yet, but it is listed as in-stock on amazon, which is the next best thing.

On Thursday of last week I emailed my boss pointing out that I am only 4 weeks from the end of my current contract and it would be useful to know if I am going to get the Order of the DCM or if I am staying on.

Today he has replied saying he is requesting an extension for me and hopeflly it will be approved, which is as good as it gets in this organisation....

Thankfully I had the power to authorise renewals myself.    I did often hang it out though to allow me to negotiate the rate down a bit.    ;)

Over the last weekend we had our first proper festival gig. I think I have a new favourite live band www.merryhell.co.uk, fantastically danceable fun live songs, their recorded stuff doesn't do them justice and very pro and easy to work with when it comes to mixing. Infact I said I'd do their next London gig for free lol
