Thanks for your good wishes, re the new job.

I started yesterday, at 6 am.  I peeled about a thousand bananas, and did some other stuff which helped to make hundreds (if not thousands) of banoffee pies, so I think it is fair to say, my new job is helping bring joy to the masses.

I've had some awful first days at work before, and thankfully this was not one of them.  Although the part where I had to spread cream around with the back of a spoon on cakes as they passed me on a conveyor belt was a bit tricky, and I'll need a bit more practice at that particular manoeuvre.

Anyway, I've seen enough on day one to encourage me to go back for more, although I probably won't get regular hours until after the Easter break.

Anyway, thanks again.

Oh by the way Jogler, if you're planning to come round and keep LindaG amused while I'm out, mid afternoon would be too late.  I finish my shift at 2, and it's only a 10 minute bike ride home again.  I think you'd be cutting it a bit fine.

Don't be eating the profits at work by the way.I wonder if you will actually develop an aversion to cake, being surrounded by it all day :o
Do you get complimentary rations like workers in cigarette & chocolate factories,& breweries do?

It didn't actually feel like food.  It's made quite clear that you're not allowed to eat on the job, and I never really wanted to.  You don't get freebies, but apparently there is a shop where you can buy seconds for a nominal amount.  LindaG tells me I need to get in there on Friday and buy some for the freezer!

Good news indeed, although I'd only ever come across this sort of thing previously in the context of domestic cats, where Hyperthyroidism treatment is expensive because the cat has to stay in a lead lined pen for several weeks.
Actually, it is rocket science.

Does the pen have the name "Schroedinger" on the outside?  Or have I misunderstood the experiment?

I've just got back from Sainsbury's. How is this good news? Well, apart from the replenishment of supplies, it became a very pleasant walk with Little Cudzo, enlivened by his invention of The Food Game (which isn't really to do with food at all), in addition to looking at flowers and cats and using parked bikes for reading practice. The most ordinary things become lovely when the sun shines.

I had reservations for two different ferry crossings back to the UK following my trip to Spain later this year.  I've just cancelled one and confirmed the other, only to find out that the journey I'll be making is now nearly £100 cheaper than originally quoted!

Mind you, it's from 2009-2010. I reckon if I'd owed them £216 for 3 years they'd have had ne hung, drawn and quartered with interest on top.   >:(
