That's strange. I could've sworn those mudguards were intact...  :P

Like your attendance record at the Long Itch camping weekend you mean?   :P

I'll have you know I have been on several Long Itch camping weekends, usually a week before...

Now, how did those stays get to that angle :P

G: youngerson is, as of this morning, Dr. Youngersonsubjecttominorcorrections.

B: youngerdaughter phoned to say that the teeth she knocked out when she fell off the bike I gave her for her 10th birthday are now wobbling madly and will have to be removed. This will require implants, which are not available on the NHS, and will cost circa £3000.

That's a tandem's worth of teeth. I reckon that's her 28th birthday present sorted out.

Edit: just spoken to youngerson. The corrections he has to do are to dissolve a chapter and put the bits in it into other chapters, so there were no problems with the argument or research, and make it slightly shorter. His panel told him "If there were a category between minor corrections and editorial corrections then we would have put it there."

Younger son commented to me "I'm surprised they thought it was that good."

GN: I finally managed to gather enough tuits today to start clearing out my car, ready for repair.

BN: as part of this I took the spare wheel out.  The bump has bent the spare wheel well.  BUGGER!

BN:  The glass turntable from the microwave oven clung to a dish David lifted as he extracted dinner on Saturday, fell and smashed on the floor.
BN:  We could find no local stockists of spare microwave turntable plates so I placed an order with Amazon.

GN: This morning, I received an email stating my order would be delivered today.
GN:  My parcel was delivered at 10:40.

BN: This level of service is a nail in the coffin of local shops.
BN: I use the microwave at least twice per day on average. My disability means I am pretty dependant on its use. I feel a bit guilty about using Amazon nonetheless.

BN: David had problems installing a Cat Eye computer to his new bike and destroyed several black 2.5mm x 200mm cable ties in the process.
GN: There were excess long, narrow, black cable ties supplied with a H*lford's computer he possessed.
BN: There were very few long, narrow, black cable ties in my cable tie stock bag.
BN: Maplin have discontinued black 2.5mm x 200mm cable ties. Maplin have also closed the branch that was within half a mile of our abode.
?N: Amazon listed a pack of black 100 2.5 x 200mm cable ties for £1.90 including delivery.
BN: I placed another order with Amazon.

?N:  I see 'Customers who have bought said cable ties' seem also to buy cycle computers...

I'm not at all sure that helping to kill Maplin should be a source of guilt - certainly not on a level with local shops. I too have bought cable ties from Amazon (no cycle computers though!). Mine were reusable ones which Maplin only pretend to stock anyway.

As far as I am concerned, Maplin damaged our custom by closing the local branch.

GN: Amazon have emailed me to tell me the cable ties have been despatched.

Maplin lost my custom by not stocking half the things I used to be able to buy from them.

Is that good news? Is there a difference between despatched and dispatched where one means killed off and the other means sent on their way?

BN: the rails in the dishwasher keep falling off
GN: they can be temporarily[1] fettled with small cable ties
BN: That means temporarily. They keep falling off but not quite as easily.
GN: I finally found the parts
BN: How much?
GN: they arrived today
BN: bought the wrong number
GN: I have a spare :)

GN: A couple of days ago, in Maidstone, a young female person whom I had not met before declared her love for me.

BN: This proclamation was made from the open window of a moving car and prefixed with the word "Santa".

GN: Got my MA assignment finished.

BN: Had to get up at audax o'clock; drive 90 miles; prat around with software and printers and traipse all over campus to get it printed ready for handing in.

GN: Got it handed in in time

BN: Then had an email from tutor to all of the group saying "remember e-mail submission is preferable" when nothing of the sort had been even hinted at before.

GN: Back home now and have a bonus day off tomorrow because I opted not to overnight in Brizzle.

BN: In theory this should mean a lie-in, but my body never obliges.

GN: Extra day off as someone's upset on of the site radiation monitors*
BN: I'm spending it waiting for someone from the water board to look at my blocked drains

GN: I got a letter today saying that I'm owed a refund on my student loan
BN: The letter is only about a small amount from last Financial year
GN: I have another £400 of this years that I should be able to claim back if I send evidence :)

GN:  Finally found enough time to complete my own income tax return.    :-\

GN+1:   I have overpaid.

BN:  The overpaid amount is not even enough to fund an n+1 Brooks B17.    :(

BN: My neighbour's lost her front door key.

GN: I was able to let her in using my key.

BN: Because I've been doing other things all day, I'm up working at half past eleven.

BN: Back. Ouch! prevented me getting out on the bike today and I am moving slowly if at all.

GN: Letter in post. At least one Uni will take our daughter off our hands for the next four years pending appropriate grades (and it was her #2 choice, the one where my elder brother did his MSc on glasses that turn dark at the first sign of danger.)

GN:  The SmallestCub didn't actually get his foot stuck in the edge of the escalator whilst travelling a couple of steps up from me and forgetting that you Never Ever prat about on escalators.

BN: In preventing him from doing so I managed to fall up the escalator.  Fortunately in a not too spectacular fashion but I now have a fairly splendid huge painful graze on my left shin that hurt enough to make talking difficult for about 5 minutes (which those who know me will appreciate is like half a lifetime) and my right knee is incredibly painful.

Oww. Hope you feel better soon. :)

My childish side has to ask is the graze stripey like the escalator step?

GN: Hanananananah the astrononononomer and her partner came to stay with us for the weekend as part of an extended visit to the UK.

BN: H contracted some of the Piccadilly Line's finest lurgy on the way.

GN: I can now turn the heating down from "don't traumatise the South Africans".

BN: I think it may have to go up again soon, as I'm feeling increasingly grotty.
