GN: Due to the relatively warm (and windy) weather I have set some speed records(/Strava PB's) on my commute (started in October, so I haven't seen any real good weather since the first two weeks) this week.
BN: I have shin muscle pains now.
Forgive me Father, for I have sinned. It has been too many days since I have ridden through the night with a brevet card in my pocket...

Good: owing to the strength of the tail wind my last half-mile home tonight should be a 40mph freewheel. :o

Bad: owing to the strength of the side wind my first 2 miles home tonight will have to done on foot. :(

I did the first wee bit of mine on foot. It was particularly exciting when the gusts turned up behind me and had me running along the pavement.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

BN: It's cold dark & windy,   I'm _very_ stressed out at work..... I've not ridden my bike for fun since October ?

GN: There is food, rioja and the new Suzanne Vega album on the turntable.    A shame I didn't know about the gig in Birmingham last week though

BN: The tree that David planted in our garden appears to be being blown over by the wind. It now is at 30o to the vertical. Initially it popped back up after the wind stopped but now it has a permanent list. It was about 8ft tall, having grown from about 18 inches or less.

GN: The final disassembly of the Harry Quinn frame went smoothly. Even the bottom bit of the headset didn't put up too much of a struggle.

BN: Deciding that the dishwasher was the ideal way to clean the bits was not a good idea. I now face a major buffing task to get the aluminium bits shiny again.

GN: Discovering that Harry Quinn had discreetly put a serial number on the fork steerer tube dispelled any suspicions I might have had about the F&Fs' provenance.

GN: Marks and Spencer has opened a large store in The Hague.

BN: Mrs Wunja seems set to do all food shopping there, and I'm not sure the bank account can stand the strain

Afternoon off today, and the sun was shining  :)

I really wanted to go on a bike ride, but for some reason felt far too anxious. :'(

Damn and blast it.

BN: I may not be able to organize/attend any Cambridge social rides this year.

GN: This is because I am in line, currently, for 3 different contracts which would mean I would be home every night, and able to restart the NTR Thursday night social!

That counts as an overall win, to me!

GN: Don't need new specs
BN: I'm losing iris pigment, and that's probably what's causing the halos.

 :-\

GN: Early detection means better monitoring
more GN: Only 30% of PDS leads to pigmentary glaucoma
even more GN: even then it's quite responsive to treatment
Update:

The halos are where light is coming in through your moth-eaten irises. Vigorous exercise will make this worse.

So, if, say, I was the kind of person who gets her kicks from riding a bike all day and into the night, that would make it worse
Quote from: eye doc
Yes. But don't let it stop you doing anything.

But I could use this as an excuse to get other people to change my punctures at night!
Quote from: eye doc
O, well yes, you should certainly do that!

Good news: Liverpool's Everyman Theatre has reopened, as has it's much loved bistro.

Bad news: they've put the prices up and the menu is smaller than before.

Good News: after about 4 months my new rims have arrived at my not so LBS

Bad news: there's now a 2 week delay on the hubs

It's all moot as the frame won't be here until the end of the month

Good news: Ms Marco has made the England U18 Touch Rugby squad for Euro Champs in Swansea in August!   O:-)  :-*

Bad news: We now have an 'opportunity' to buy the kit... How much?! :o   Oh well...  :)

GN: I had my driving assessment at work today. I was evaluated as low risk. It was rather a worthwhile exercise

BN: that probably means i will have more work put on me for no extra pay.

BN: I am too tired to see The Stranglers in Leamington tonight & it's probably Jet Black's swansong tour.

Bad news: Motocrossers have ruined the nicest singletrack decent in the village.

Good news: My Strava king of the mountains is safe for a while. ???

On balance though I'd rather have the singletrack though

BN: Last week I bust a pedal on the pink magenta bike.

More BN: Tonight the bearing packed up on a pedal on the fixer.

GN: Yesterday I fitted a new pair of pedals to the pink magenta bike. I now have on my shelf one borked RH pedal, one part worn LH pedal.  The pedal that died this evening on this fixer is a LH one. Hurrah!

BN: While I was on my way home from dentist and shopping, I got out of the saddle to pull away from the lights at a busy crossroads, and my phone fell out of my pocket onto the tarmac, although I wasn't aware of it.

GN: The people behind me in their car at the traffic lights just happened to be my next-door neighbours, and they were waiting for me when I got home to hand it back.

That was my first thought, but I've never bought a lottery ticket and wouldn't know how to go about it. I'd probably make an embarassing faux pas and people at the newsagents would point and giggle.

I'll just hope that my premium bonds win something in April. That would make it six months in a row.

BN: The choice was between a lady's electric razor and a bottle of Martini Bianco.

GN: The Di2/hydraulic levers for my new build has appeared at the LBS, and the frame has finally arrived in the country.

BN: The frame still hasn't arrived at the LBS, so it's really going to be cutting it fine to get it built in time for going on holiday with it. Getting stressed, but perhaps this should be going in the first world problems thread...   ::-) :)
