Control Volunteers - a list?
« on: 16 March, 2011, 11:41:10 am »
I did a Control for a 400 and a 100 last year, after a plea from a couple of organisers. Occasionally I do hear on rides that there has been a difficulty in getting Controllers. So I wondered if it might be helpful to have a list of people who might be able to help out for controls? I know lots of YACFers helped out with LEL and also have dome at many other events.

Along the lines of:  Location - Distance prepared to travel to a control

I'll start it off  :)
It is simpler than it looks.

where you have a concentration of power in a few hands, all too frequently men with the mentality of gangsters get control. History has proven that. Power corrupts; absolute power corrupts absolutely.

S26 (the crap side of Sheffield) 20-40 miles depending on when you want the control manned. Contact by PM initially.

If this happens, I'm going to make my own rubber stamp and am so sad and geeky that I'm quite excited by the prospect.

You'd get a unique potato print or a nice colourful ride related sticker if I am controlling.

I'm also prepared to be an info control. "What was the four letter word shouted at you from the pub by the junction?"

I could, within 30-ish miles of York, so long as you give me clear instructions in words of few syllables what I actually had to do.

And hmmm..... cake.  What would the chances be, do you reckon?

Ah, Hummers - you're the man  8).

I need someone to man a control in Fresville, it's out of Cherbourg down the E3, then right on to the D214  ;D.

Less than 24 miles from Portsmouth, acording to our AUK reference (MS Autoroute)  ;)
