Is this one 'invitation only' as suggested?

I have a chum who is a strong rider and would like to join us.

I believe that Simon is waiting for the weather gods to make up their minds before deciding what to do with this ride.  My understanding is that if it is freezing then it will be invite only, but if the weather is mild for the time of year & with no chance of freezing roads then it will be open to the all.  For confirmation, I'd suggest sending his Leggship an email.
What on earth am I doing here on this beautiful day?! This is the only life I've got!!

mebbes; fits in better with Real Life than a (probably pissing down) Sunday club run; Brighton I assume?

Yes it is Brighton.

I'm unlikely to be there as one of my Guardian Angels is having a significant birthday party on the Saturday, and another is coming to stay.

Appears it is time to send of our acceptances.

Little likelyhood of ice, so now is the time to sign up!

Main roads most of the way, and a faster pace. A brief stop at Gatwick, or, if there is the threat of rain further south, Pease Pottage service station, where the Ritazza is open all night. We'll travel chain-gang stylee, with a bit of rotation as and when. I'm aiming to get to Brighton about 5.

Bring calorie bars, and something to drink - if it's cold and wet you'll need sustenance on the way.

So - I'll take it that

Done  :)  I assume the route S of Pease Pottage is not the A23  :o

And me. :( I would almost be tempted, otherwise. However, as long as the weather on Saturday is not horrid I'll take the poor bike out for an adventure then. Maybe head to Brighton in the daytime!

I see Nienke has sent you a PM. However you don't need to be a member over the road to read the thread, which will have the knee bandaged one's contact details in it.

Um. I don't think it does. I'm not sure how happy Mr L3 is with his e-mail address being posted anywhere, hence the PM. I think he can be contacted via the blogspot as well.

It is remarkably difficult to find the e-mail address on the blog (although I'm sure it is/was there).  I have it anyway, having occasionally exchanged electrical missives with Mr Legg.

I thought Hummers had been keeping a low profile recently. I've just realised: Sarah Palin is actually Hummers in drag! :D

Low profile?

You have been looking in the wrong places, dear boy.

As for me looking like Sarah Palin, who is she?

I can't make it this time.  It's our Rowing Club's Annual Dinner.  So out with the DJs, Club Blazers and Party Frocks for a posh meal.  Then partying into the wee small hours.

I'd much rather be climbing Ditchling.

My sincerest apologies but I will have to decline this offer as I have to intervene on a serious issue in the parish of Sexual Ealing.

Another time mon ami.

Will see you at the start.

So do we have an ammended roll call?

I see that Mr Hatler has kindly suggested a cafe at Brighton for our delight.

Market Cafe 17 Open Market, London Road,

I hope it is open!

Is anyone riding on westwards after the finish? I am intending to ride back to Pompey.

P.S.
I understand that Mr Legg may be suffering from sleep deprivation issues.

You are all in luck as I have a remedy.

I have found that a rub of ‘little Hummers’ does the trick and am selflessly willing to offer this to the FNRTTC chain gang if necessary.

It certainly works for me.

Hope this helps.

They don't have a landline , but I just spoke to the florist a couple of doors away from them and she seemed to think
"... they open quite early on a Saturday , seven o'clock or seven thirty......"

Sadly I'll not be joining you on this one.
