Hitchhikers’ Guide to the Galaxy

All versions of HGTTG are rubbish compared to the original R4 version.  (Including the book).

This is true, but the TV series gets a pass on the grounds of the Guide animations.

(The book gets a pass on the grounds that it has the words DON'T PANIC inscribed in large friendly letters on its cover.)

(The film gets a pass on the grounds of the opening earworm.)

Monkey.  Not Monkey Tennis, that's different.

I hope you mean the 1978 Japanese version.
Sorry, no. I mean the dubbed one from 1979. Andrew Sachs voices the horse.

Same thing, just dubbed.

I did, in a fit of nostalgia, try watching the modern remake. Lasted 5min before switching off in disgust.

Ah yes, I thought that's what you meant regarding the 78/79 production. I don't speak Japanese, although The Girl, while at University, did a module of Japanese just so she could understand anime better.

Modern remakes. Just don't.
