La Reine Margot with Isabelle Adjani looking gormless as usual and Daniel Auteuil looking lost without Yves Montand.  150 minutes of Catholics carving up Huguenots, bludde & stiffs everywhere.  I fell asleep a couple of times, MrsT enjoyed it.

The Batman. It had it's moments, but could easily have been an hour shorter. Also not enough batmanning. Opening scene on the underground station was so promising...
Nolan's first 2 are still the best.

The great muppet caper.  I forgot John Cleese’s involvement.

I really struggle with endless reboots of comic-based stories.  It’s not Shakespeare, you don’t need to keep retelling the origin of Batman/Spider-Man/aqua man again and again.

The Equalizer (the American version with Denzial Washington in it)

It was a bit more intelligent than I was expecting, but mostly the crash bank whollop I needed this evening.

FSVO intelligent obv.

Monte Walsh. Tom Selleck. The book by Jack Shaefer has been out of print for ages. One of those books you read when young, which stays with you.

Casablanca.  A story about refugees fleeing war.  Seems sadly appropriate.   Brilliant film.  I must dig out some more old B&W stuff.

Don't look up (Netflix)

An enjoyable satirical disaster movie!

Hadn't appreciated on first viewing that all of the characters were played by actors of the characters nationality.

Or that Graham Hill and Jo bonnier were joined at the hip.

But Kessler survived for a poorly received sequel.  https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081885/reviews?ref_=tt_urv

I've vague memories of "Secret Army" being something my parents watched, but can't remember much about it.   My main memory of the sequel was that John , from "The Tomorrow People" was in it.
Yes, Kessler escapes at the end of Secret Army with the help of his mistress.

The problem with Secret Army these days is that most people will have seen its direct parody ('Allo 'Allo) first.  When Secret Army first came out, it was watch-from-behind-the-sofa stuff.

Just watched the first 3 episodes back to back.  That's good stuff.

Well,  I've just finished watching all 3 series of "Secret Army" , including the un-broadcast final episode (which was crap).

Very good TV,  well worthy of your time if you've not seen it.   Good acting from all the cast & good scripts.  I had to look up some of the stories to see that they'd been based on real events.

Fantastic Beasts #1.  Not in any way good, one of those films shot 50% in the dark with lots of muttering.  Not anywhere near as bad as a Marvel movie though.

Wings of Desire on Amazon Prime. Bloody brilliant and very very strange. Set when I was a yoof and bomb sites were still a thing in European cities.

Oh.

Joe Bell   Wouldn't seek out Mark Wahlberg movies but this is very good (not an easy watch at times) True story of a guy promoting an anti-bullying message after his gay son killed himself as a result of bullying. On Prime.

Just watched the trailer, weird is what southern Jutland is known for, that's coming from someone who grew up in the northern part :)

Fisherman's Friends (a second viewing, on account of seeing the band last Friday)

Cornwall does Local Hero.

Rip-roaring, bawdy fun, with copious sex scenes, monstrous peril and more than enough gratuitous violence.

On the plus side, we enjoyed spotting the real members of the band in their cameos in the film  ;D
It is simpler than it looks.

I dunno: I used to visit Kolding quite a lot on business and really enjoyed it - friendly people & good food.

Come to think of it, I was driving from there to Copenhagen when Chernobyl popped.

Diamonds Are Forever.  Not quite as shite as I remembered it.  A bit homophobic for today's tastes.

Ah that's the east side and there's plenty of "south" below of Kolding and west of Jutland :)

whiplash on the beeb last night, I thought I'd give it half an hour and I was hooked. Pretty obvious thematically, and not a lot of depth of characterisation but the music kept me watching.

I'll take it off my turbo trainer "shit to watch" list then. I do post-ironic crap, but this sounds a step too far
