Thirteen Lives (Amazon Prime Video).  The story of the Tham Luang cave rescue in Thailand.  Significant dramatic license taken, I would think, but excellent nonetheless.

Also, Witness for the Prosecution (Charles Laughton, Marlene Dietrich, Tyrone Power).  They don't make 'em like that any more.
It was a day like any other in Ireland, only it wasn't raining

Licorice Pizza
We enjoyed a very happy couple of hours with (among its delights) Alana Haim, even if not playing guitar.

"Everything Everywhere All At Once"

10/10.  Very different.  Very nice visuals.

We watched this last night. It was silly.
Do not clench. It only makes it worse.

Planet Of The Apes (original).

A few plot holes but generally very good.
Hard work sometimes pays off in the end, but laziness ALWAYS pays off NOW.

No Time To Die Except At The End of the Film When He Dies. Can someone please terminate Purvis & Wade's scriptwriting careers? A workmanlike, functional action movie? Yes. Good Bond film? No. Largely humourless. What humour there is shows up how miserable everything else is. Dull chief villain and faceless henchmen. Five films all linked in a story arc for no good reason other than to confuse casual viewers. Clunking references to the rest of the series (the DB5…). Great Bond & supporting performances the only lights in this tunnel. And most egregious to my mind, you cast the brilliant Christoph Waltz as the greatest Bond villain of all, Blofeld…and then waste that, twice. First a lumbering shared backstory in Spectre, and then killing him off in this one. It's like trying to make a Bond movie without really liking or understanding Bond movies.....

It's gratifying to know that, in NRA gun nut Charlton Heston's long and varied career, the line for which he will be remembered is:

"Laura"

With the stunning Gene Tierney (what a sad life she had).  And I think those really were Dana Andrews's shoulders inside that suit!  Proper film noir with lots of rain and omnipresent cigarettes.  One of the best.

Paradox - the Neil Young/Darryl Hannah film. Bit shite but some great music.

Patriot Games.

Still fun, but a good indicator of how much action films have moved on.

Is that the one with the printer scene?  That bit was dated before it came out.

Isn't that the one in which Sean Bean tried to sound Irish and Harrison Turd earned the title King Leer?

Meanwhile, we watched Glass Onion last night.  Great fun.

Avatar 2. Or rather, I'm trying to work my way through it (Got an awards screener). It's pretty, but the writing and acting is very very bad.

Might as well have just watched Avatar 1, then.

My son went to the cinema to see it this afternoon. His verdict was: "It's long."

Porco Rosso for the nth time.   It's our favourite Miyazaki and we know it inside out, so it didn't matter that I slept for the first half (strenuous ride followed by good dinner).

Murphy's War.

An anti-war war film with Peter O'Toole overacting furiously.  I quite enjoyed it, especially the CGI-free action sequences.

The story's pretty basic really, but actually I found it visually mesmerising & it didn't seem too long or drag much.

The Banshees of Inisherin.  Stunning views of old Ireland and very good performances by the cast.

Watching Glass Onion.

It's a beautiful film to watch, but it's Friday night, I'm tired, I can't be arsed with the convolutions so I've just read the wiki plot synopsis instead
