If you're a fan of the Griff/Rory/Dara Three Men stuff, they're in New England tonight and tomorrow.

Missed it - went out on the bike instead. Doesn't help that the remote control for the digibox went missing..

OK, that's the stuff to miss, what's the stuff that makes it a bit better? ;)

We didn't see Great Expectations last night but the noises on Twitter were mostly favourable (and from people whose opinions I trust - YMMV). We've recorded it and will watch it later, along with the second part.

Top Gear, Countryfile,

... and Three Men etc part 2.

Thursday 1st of new earth flight series looks as though it could be interesting.  Probably be spoilt by those who belived the cameraman really had his own wings and flew.

When "Countryfile" is the best thing on TV, you know it's not worth paying the licence fee any more.  It used to be Sunday lunchtime schedule-filler, watched only by farmers and hungover students who were fearful of stretching for the remote control, lest they yawn technicolorifically.

d. I'm not sure if you should be holding your breath.  I caught a bit of it and I'm uneasy about a hero who is prettier and appears to have more collagen in his lips and more lipstick and eye make-up than the girl.  It looks like a good production but Pip is just too distracting - I keep waiting for his face to fall off!

He certainly is a very pretty young man, isn't he. Estella looks rather plain in comparison.

I didnt see it all as it was on to late for me, but that Ben Elton program on 80's comedy looked quite good. Might see if I can watch that on catch up.

+1 for Great Expectations.  Watching it now on i-Player.

Gillian Anderson looks great in a wedding dress.

It's rumoured that Ray Winstone was only second choice for Magwitch, but Julian Clary was busy.

What is a Stacey Solomon (apart from a breathtaking thick-o)?
She did very well on X Factor a couple of years ago. I can't remember if she won, but she was top three. Simon Cowell described her as a singing candle.

And in the breathtaking thick-o stakes may I present Michel Roux Jr, answering questions on l'Escoffier.  He runs Le Gavroche, which has two Michelin stars.  My idea of cookery is to microwave a Sainsbury's curry.  I got more questions right on his specialised subject than he did.

From what I've seen, very few of the celebs have done all that well, so it's a bit harsh to pick on Stacey Solomon.

You've also got to take into account that performance on quizzes is not so much a measure of intelligence as a measure of ability to recall trivia under pressure. Clive Sinclair came last on the episode he appeared in, behind a 12-year-old Blue Peter presenter. And Brian Moore WON his episode and he's a proper thicko.
