Dr Who's assistant
« on: 07 April, 2008, 10:09:09 pm »
In the Dr Who thread there are several comments on previous assistnts, including one poster who found Bonnie Langford attractive!

Apart from the obvious which would move this into NSFW - who would you cast as the assistant and why?

Personally I would have liked to have seen Joanna Lumley or Felicity Kendal as a contrast to the weak characters that LAngford et al played.

Why is everyone assuming it has to be a woman? I used to identify with Adric quite strongly when I was a kid, and I was really upset when he died...

I used to work with Louise Jameson (Leila).

She was a good assistant, and a very nice person, too.

I'm sorry but I've just lost all respect for you ;)
Adric was to Dr Who what Scrappy Doo was to Scooby.
Never have I cheered the Cybermen so much as when they crashed that ship into earth with Adric on board. Hell, it was even worth wiping out countless species of dinosaur to be rid of the simpering brat.

Everything about the Peter Davison period was cringeworthy.

I think of Bonnie Langford as a WMD.

Ace was a lot less wimpy than most assistants...

Nice to know that I once had some respect to lose! But seriously, I was a kid at the time. You think differently.

Jo Grant was nice. She posed for some interesting pictures with a Dalek

Yeah, Ace was my favourite, definitely. Something of a role model for a younger me, I think. Did you know she grew up in Perivale?

I always look for her on my commute - I imagine hearing the tardis and seeing her clutching a canister of Nitro-9 and a baseball bat...

I strongly disagree....he was a great Doctor, but not as good as Tom Baker.....but he had by far the best assistant!!!!

I greeted his passing with mixed feelings!!!

I think I've missed out on something here, never seen Doctor W with her in it (I'm sure I would have remembered.)

Just watched tonight installment and like it but I must say I'm not warming to her yet, she does not fit in as the assistant. Though I will still be watching.

Yup, Ace was ace. Unfortunately she was saddled with Sylvester McCoy as the Dr. and he just wasn't up to the job.

Ace. I remember doing the BBC Safety video. They nearly drownded her.

(OT aside: I worked on the kids' Saturday morning show where http://www.youtube.com/v/9UiJMn2eicE&rel=1
Oh, and I recorded a show where Bobby Davro was accidentally dropped face-down onto a studio floor whilst fastened into a pillory.

Er... there's a theme brewing here, isn't there?)
