So when he does finally break cover, where to?

No host booked tonight, so we are in loop territory.

And a good thing to note; last evenings hard frost in the area has already lifted, though no doubt he'll be sticking to gritted roads.

Damn!  Thought I might start my journey to work before Steve did.  Missed it by 10 minutes.

Hopefully he'll have a couple of early nights to recover from the weekend's efforts.

Indeed. Although it's worth noting that by 18th Jan, Steve's distances are much more consistent than Tommy Godwin's were (Steve's standard deviation: 18.2 miles; Tommy's: 32.9 miles).

Tewkesbury, perhaps?

If Steve can manage with riding in the cold day after day this week could be quite productive given cold, dry and reasonably light winds---but it` quite brrr out there this morning and yesterday noticeable LACK gritting here even on main A44 trunk road, which was dodgy in places

It's surprisingly mild here in Worcester (and I suppose in Tewkesbury too)

When I say mild I mean not as freezing as I thought it would be.

Not Tewkesbury - he's heading up Watling Street on an as yet unused route.

Impressed he started when he did, that would have taken a bit of determination.

He's presumably building up a sleep deficit though - he can't have got more than 5 hours sleep yesterday.  I'm guessing he might have a shorter day today, in order to catch up with himself.

And a left along the Fosse Way. It's all Roman roads today.

The cold air mass seems to have taken residence in Wales; -6c in Builth Wells , Llandrindod Wells this morning

Looks like today is a day for a series of Loops without getting too far from home so that he can stop when he feels the need. Already looping back towards MK.

Hope he has a good ride today.

All this.

Sooner or later my maternal 'he needs looking after' head will overtake my 'already full life with no spare time or cash' and I'll be taking casseroles, flapjack and Hot Ginger Heat Rub over there.

He's doing well today...if he repeats the loop he's just done, that'll be over 160 miles today, but we'll see....it's entirely up to him & how he's feeling.
