Poor rabbo...
« on: 22 December, 2014, 04:39:05 pm »
Turns out that he (4-5yro Netherland dwarf) is most probably blind in both eyes.  This following a trip to the vet, after mini-ao noticing that he had developed cloudy eyes.  No real pupillary response, and vet couldn't see the optic disc.  Apparently it could have been due to a parasitic infection he had in the summer, sounded like e.cuniculi (having googled it).  On the plus side - it probably shouldn't impact too much on him.

Hopefully he'll cope fine.  We had a mog for years, that got about fine despite being blind.  We were considerate about not moving furniture about too much, and if we'd changed something in the garden, we'd "show" it to him so he could feel his way around it.  He certainly knew where his food bowl was!

Daughters rabbit died...   :-\  Sweet little dwarf Netherland  (in foreground with partner behind - the other blind rabbit is in separate hutch) called Tento, as in Ten-to-two (ear 'spacing') shown in foreground.  He must have had some underlying condition, as he seemed to go down hill as a result of the stress of a trip to vets for myxy jab.   Poppy his partner grieving now.
