Polycarbonate replacement for Hort Glass
« on: 30 December, 2020, 07:58:40 am »
I want to make my cold frame less hazardous, currently has one broken pane and is standard 4mm hort glass, not toughened.

Plan was to buy a sheet of polycarbonate twin wall and cut to size.  So far I've found a few places that sell the polycarbonate sheets, and look relatively cheap until you add in P&P, a £20 sheet can end up with £30 delivery charge in one example.

Anyone else done a similar replacement and can point me to a reasonable priced source?  I'll also call some of the local builders merchants

I think I paid about £35 for 10 sheets from an ebay place when I did a hardwood greenhouse for my son-ib-law. It was also the cheapest place whena colleague, at work wanted to replace his greenhouse glass completely.

Probably cheaper to buy a single sheet locally, though. I think they sell them in Zasckes, but not sure how much.
If it ain't broke, fix it 'til it is...

I had to replace the polycarbonate on my cold frames a year or two ago. I'm fairly sure I got the sheets from B&Q or Wickes.
