So that was the easy side of Monte Zoncolan 'parently. Anyone know what cassettes / low gears would be typical.
I did the climb just before the stage on the turbo with a taxc film. Its the ascent from the other side and pitches up earlier and, I think more sustained, although it doesn't top out at quite as high a gradient. 21.5% was as much as I saw.
I used a 28 small ring and 36 on the cassette, so super sub compact. 260 watts average or there about got me up at 7.9 kph. Im around 80 kilos. It's a heck of a slope.
I think most fo the racers were using more like a 1:1 ratio or bigger. Sean Kelly was talking about racing up it during the stage and I thought he said he used a 41 inner ring back then. Holy crap!
Massive respect for Tratnik there. He in no way looks like a climber and I thought he would blow long before he did. He was very philosophical in the post race interview too.
