can file history folder be deleted from an external hd?

I am tidying up an external HD and found a folder "file history" which is a hefty 280 gig. Can I delete this without damaging anything please?

Difficult to know without knowing more a out the drive and it's software but can you take a copy of everything that you want to keep and do a format?

Its a Toshiba 4TB and running on win 11.

You could try temporarily renaming that folder. If it causes no issues after a period of time, then delete it.
