Author Topic: Update on Events - Border Nights 400km - Saturday 3 September  (Read 722 times)

We will now be using Lockerbie Lorry Park (229km) as an overnight control. They will be opening just for the event. There will be food available all night and you will have the option of a drop bag from the start to the overnight at the Lorry Park and back to the finish. There will be floor space available in the bar area or there are a limited number of rooms available (extra cost - book through me). You can bring a floor mat/sleeping bag in your drop bag if you want a bit of extra comfort.
The event will start in Brampton, most will be riding in the dark from Galashiels onwards until the overnight control including over Devils Beef Tub.
After the Lorry Park it's relatively easy 175km with some nice scenic bits to the finish and if you've taken the opportunity to have a rest at Lockerbie plenty of places to stop in the later stages if you want to.
It's an ideal first 400 for anyone wanting a bit of night riding event experience or a relatively easy 400 BRM if you want a PBP pre-qualifier. It's also a very nice scenic ride without much traffic.

I love the Lockerbie Lorry Park!  So handy for overnight stays when doing long rides.  £25 for a room is hard to beat and a cafe doing the food you want/need (used to be 24 hour but closed overnight since re-opening).

Good idea to use it as a control.  Sounds like a great event

The manager and staff have been great, they are looking to reopen 24 hours but it's not imminent yet. It's a fantastic place, an oasis on the B7076 and very bike friendly. For those who've missed the experience it may keep you going for a while and you even get a 400km event thrown in for the entry fee.
