Bikes for 10 year olds

Due to changes in jobs and stuff we aren't doing as much cycling and so don't really want to pay Islabike prices. What is the next step down in terms of bikes for 10 year olds?

Decathlon junior. It also depends on how big a 10 year old. Mine is just outgrowing a 20" raleigh pacer.  Looking for the next step up which will probably be a second hand 46/48cm road frame and spare bits (one of the guys in the club is renowned for his lack of stature)

I've seen some nice Moda bikes appeared in local bike shops lately.  They seem to be pretty well set up.

Trek do a good range of kids bikes, nicely specced with adjustable cranks and stems so lots of room to grow, for about £250.
Riding a concrete path through the nebulous and chaotic future.

I Second Decathlon.  From the Junior through the smallest 650 wheeled Triban (my smallish 13 y/o is cutting his teeth on one right now).  Good VFM.
