No, he was allowed in originally because the judge ruled that the process of refusing him a visa was unfair, in that he wasn't given enough time to respond when he first arrived.

Tennis Australia and the local state appeared to have agreed a visa for him, but as I understand it, the government didn’t.

Putting aside the extraordinary quirk of fate that he caught COVID just when he needed to, there were several issues with his behaviour.

He didn't isolate properly with the COVID that he had.
His visa application had errors in it
He had travelled elsewhere when his visa application said he hadn't.

It is simpler than it looks.

Correct - some 20 or 40 minutes less that he should have got apparently.

In other news, well done Andy Murray, beating the 23rd seed.  And Evans looking good to beat Goffin has beaten Goffin

It was a real roller-coaster of a match.  I was listening on the radio and, at the end of the second set, the momentum really seemed to be with Stephens.

After much fanfare about the British prowess at tennis while our plucky sports persons are away at the colonies, this mornings news is a Scotsman and a Canadian woman have both been knocked out of the tournament.  ;)

That depends on whether they are winning or losing.

You'll just have to support Dan Evans then - who's into the 3rd round couretsy of a w/o.  However I don't expect him to beat Auger-Alliassime.

Those with long memories will remember the Andy Murrayometer which, in the days before he won Wmbldn*, correlated the BRITISHness of Mr Murray with his world ranking.

The border acts as a kind of diode whereby a Scottish victory filters southwards and becomes British, but a Scottish defeat stays Scottish.

Ms Radacanu moved to the UK aged 2 and has been based here (as far as I can tell ever since).

Her precedessor as a British woman Grand Slam winner, Ms Wade, was born in the UK but moved to South Africa aged 1 and returned aged 15.
