Campag levers with SRAM gears?

I've not heard of this anywhere else.  Has anyone tried this, did Shimano hidden cable routing kill this hack off?

I'd heard that Campag 10 speed shifters and SRAM rear mech will index 10 speed Shimano but not tried it.
