When I reported here the "midday hoggis" in my garden, someone posted a link to a hedgehog rescue site that said that if you see a hedgehog out in daylight then it's probably not well or hungry.

As it proved with mine (now deceased) :(

OK, good point - perhaps it's not well for some reason.  I wonder if it could have been disturbed by a cat?

One of the wildlife charities has said there are a lot more hedgehogs out in the day at present due to a longer hibernation period, and trying to to rebuild fat stores.
