A LBS has just quoted me a month's wait to get hold of a basic road bike groupset
Can anyone beat that?

A month is very good at the moment. Delivery dates for some cycle parts is into 2023. Shimano seems worst hit, various reasons. SRAM seems most obtainable of the usual suspects.

I think I've ordered a car, September 2021 at easliest
There's an obvious reason SRAM have less of a problem, they have to make more because their stuffs made of cheese and people are daft enough to keep paying over the odds to replace it.
