Since I have the hall anyway for a couple of other events, I thought I'd see how it works from Darlo. Unsurprisingly, it's a lot easier, though the middle third is still ferocious, with the Incline still included, plus the fabulous ridgeway route back around the back of Roseberry Topping - and, of course, down The Unsuitables.

The route is here, but likely to change unless the farmer relents and lets us use his track out the back of Guisborough. The alternative routes via Ayton or round Roseberry Common are lovely too, though: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/37774377

The route to and from t'Moors is a bunch of old railways, quiet lanes and (potentially) The Only Cyclepath Visible From Space.

Interesting...! Will have a look at the train situation when I've woken up a bit more.

Sunday trains, mmm. I have the hall all day, that's why it's a Sunday.

The 400 starting on Saturday is very train-friendly ;D

Rode the route today just to make some final decisions about the route. Sadly the walkway along the old railway out the back of Guisborough is still effectively blocked to bikes. Dunno whether it's the landowner or Notwork Rail, but that level crossing is well locked.
