Thanks for posting the link! I've signed up, the wife and kids are keen to follow me round (virtually!)

Anyone received information about the tracking and a link that we can share with friends to dotwatch?

I paid back in April to hire a tracker. I know that I'll need to pick it up from Debden on registration the day before the event but that's it.

They posted on FB a few days ago asking for volunteer riders to test the set up so they are on to it. Hopefully more info soon.

Nothing yet.  I’ll be returning home after registration, so sending out a tracking link which I must have after picking up tracker will be easy. But for those travelling , hope links are sent out before next Tue at latest, by which time many will be starting their travelling to get to the start and away from tablets and PCs etc.

It looks like this might be where it is at: https://track.trail.live/event/london-edinburgh-london-2022

Seems to use an outdated route as does not go via Boston and of course the route needs to reflect the Yad Moss alt route.

In answer to some questions I asked the organiser

“It is waterproof to rain, if the chsrge port is closed. It can't be submerged in water.

It is to be stored in a bag not on the frame because there are no mounting options on the device. It doesn't need line of sight to Satellite like a spot does, it is more tolerant.

All devices used gps to triangulate positions, and the hired devices use multinetwork sims on 2g and or LTE cat M1.

The model specs are gl300n (small)
https://gtc.co.uk/products/queclink-gl300n-gsm-gps-tracker

and gl320mg(larger battery,
https://www.queclink.com/product/gl320mg/

... Depending on which one you have hired.”

Can I test the tracker after registration on Saturday to ensure it’s working?

“ No, it won't appear on the map until the following morning. ”. (Sunday)

I'm confused by the tracking page - https://londonedinburghlondon.com/ridertracking

I have rented a tracker, Where should my granny input my rider ID to follow my progress? There appears to be two places to input it on the page.

Live tracking it is your name or the tracker id on the map.  You are better off giving her the direct track trail link above for live tracking.  It opens up much bigger in the browser and easier to see.

The top one is just for your times through the controls.

At first glance it looks much easier to follow what is going on compared to the TCR set-up.

Bon voyage to all.

Maybe you could pretend to be a secret control.
Why should anybody steal a watch when they can steal a bicycle?

Am I wrong if I suggest that Lindsay Mccrae is probably a woman too?

This is definitely the first time I'll meet a man called Lindsay, but there must be a first time for everything!

Mathew Page (174) is going some. Nearly at Helmsley already.
I think you'll find it's a bit more complicated than that.

He was a fair distance in front of everyone else, including Anco de Jong (Rider A1, first back in 2017) when he reached Hessle, in just under 10 hours :jurek:

He rode RATN a couple of years back. Did really well, but it all went to pot about 1500km in and he ended up scratching. Surprised everyone.
