Title: Getting times from tcx history?
Post by: Biggsy on 14 February, 2011, 04:30:13 pm
Load a .tcx history file from Edge 605 into Mapsource. I can see the route - with points, presumably where the unit has recieved a satellite signal.

How can I find out the time of each point - via Mapsource or anything else?

In the files (from a 705) there is

2011-02-12T13:24:29Z

on each trackpoint

I can see the times if I view the raw file, but then I don't know where the points are. Can I see the times at the same time as a map?

Ah, I see.

It is something I've asked for on the App that I use (Ascent for Mac) so it doesn't look like it is a standard 'feature'. Ascent does show time elapsed, but I would like the actual time too - as you are asking for!

In MapSource, there's a panel on the right hand side of the map (if its not there, go to View menu -> Show user data tabs).
From there you can pick the tab for Tracks, and it should have the track you recorded.
Then you can double click on the track name to open track properties, which will list all of the points, with the time/speed/elevation for each.
If you click on a particular point in the list, it will highlight it on the map.

Or you can right click on a point on the map, then choose track properties, which will show the time for that point.

Thanks Fuaran

Would be nice if the times could be shown in a more direct way on the map, but that will do for now.

I'm not a big fan of Memory Map, but this is one thing it does well. You can just hover the mouse over any part of the track (drawn on the map) and see a pop-up with date/timestamp, distance, elapsed time, speed, altitude - then run the mouse along the track and see all these update as you go.
